Good Afternoon and Happy Friday,
Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of mankind and author of peace, as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess, we ask you to bless the members of our armed forces. Give them courage, hope, and strength. May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love, and compassionate healing. Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light. To you be all glory, honor, and praise, now and forever. Amen.
We have had a very exciting week here at Sacred Heart. I am delighted to have welcomed our new adjustment counselor, Mrs. Elizabeth Feeney to our community. She has spent time in classrooms and on the playground getting to know some of the children. Mrs. Feeney has written a letter of introduction and I have attached it to this email. Your children, in grades 1-5, have a permission slip in their backpacks to participate in Lunch Bunch with Mrs. Feeney. It's just one way she intends to help them with social and emotional growth.
I did have to address an issue that occurred on the playground this past week. I want your children to know that they can always come to me if they ever feel concerned about another child's behavior especially if it makes them feel unsafe or anxious. I addressed a group of students today and a few children individually--I assured them that I am here for them to help them to navigate difficult situations. I'd appreciate it if you would remind your children that I expect kind behavior and that no child is allowed to touch another child in anger.
I am also very pleased to have welcomed two new families to Sacred Heart this week; Caroline Fitzgibbons has joined Mrs. Gustafson's room in fifth grade. The Roberts family has joined us as well. We are so happy to welcome Tyler, grade 5, Mickinly, grade 4, Teddy, grade 2, and Michaela to Kindergarten.
Our Day of Giving is coming up on November 29th. Each student received an envelope with our new Crowdfunding campaign for the Day of Giving. We had a great kick-off assembly this morning with the students and talked about National Giving Tuesday and what the money raised is used for. We also showed them what a Crowdfunding page looks like and told them to sit with their parents and help them build their page on their parents' social media accounts with cute photos, drawings, reasons they love their school, and why they want to raise money for their school. They all had so many things they love about Sacred Heart but the ones that stick out the most are that they think Sister Lydia is the best and that they love our new bunny! Instructions for how to set up Crowdfunding pages are in the letter and the direct link can be found here: https://interland3.
