Good Afternoon and Happy Friday Families,
Autumn Prayer
O God of Creation, you have blessed us with the changing of the seasons.
As we embrace these autumn months,
May the earlier setting of the sun
Remind us to take time to rest.
May the crunch of the leaves beneath our feet
Remind us of the brevity of this earthly life.
May the steam of our breath in the cool air
Remind us that it is you who give us
your breath of life.
May the scurrying of the squirrels and the migration of the birds
Remind us that you call us to follow your will.
We praise you for your goodness forever and ever.
Amen (author unknown)
The children are looking forward to Trunk or Treat tomorrow evening! We are grateful to the Vega family for their dedication to this annual event and grateful to the Parents' Association and their eager volunteers. It is one of the children's favorite events. Thank you, too, to the PA for the bowling event this past Wednesday! Parents, please make a note and Save the Date for a Mad Science presentation on November 9th from 5-6 pm for grades 3-8--more info to come.
On Halloween, October 31st, the children are not permitted to wear costumes or masks but t hey may have a dress-down day and wear orange, black, and other Halloween colors. No face paints or hair dye, please. And very important: no food is permitted to be shared with classmates!
Reminder, the school telephone is answered until 3:30. The school is not open for students to return to the building after that. Items that are left behind can be retrieved on the next school day.
Your children brought their NWEA/MAP test scores home for you today. The tests are an excellent tool for our teachers to use to guide instruction. While the children were bowling on Wednesday, teachers in Kindergarten through grade 8 participated in another NWEA professional development afternoon. The program was taught by Dr. Corinne Merritt using MAP scores to apply Differentiated Instruction/Assessment Strategies and Resources.
Reminders:
Have a wonderful weekend,
